So that an accidental mistake never costs you all your work, the program makes backup copies of the project by itself. Even if you accidentally hit “New project” or closed the program without saving, your work can almost always be brought back.

Two ways to recover:

How to recover your work:
- File → Restore from auto-backup — the last auto-saved state comes back.
- If you need an older copy — Restore from file backup and pick it from the list.
💡 Tip: auto-backup is a “safety cushion”, not a substitute for saving. Still save important projects manually to your own
.smp file, so you know exactly where they are.⚠️ Note: New project also clears the undo history — Ctrl+Z will no longer bring anything back. But auto-backup saves you in this case: restore your previous work from it.
