The AI assistant is a performer, not a mind reader: the quality of the result depends on what you give it. This article is about how to steer it toward a good result and how to refine what it produces.
Three pillars of quality
- An accurate fixture profile. The assistant can do exactly what is written in the profile: if
pan/tiltare not marked, it won’t move the head; if no gobos are defined, it won’t set a pattern. Take profiles from the library or from a photo; for complex fixtures, use an extended profile. - An accurate layout. The assistant knows where the fixtures are and where they point, and builds spatial effects (“beams to the center”, “a wave left to right”) from your 2D layout. Piled up in a heap — and spatial commands will produce a mess.
- A detailed brief. Everything you don’t state explicitly the assistant will choose itself — essentially at random.
How to set the task
In the “Your own mood description” field (and when refining), describe things in detail: palette, brightness/contrast, head movement, whether you need a strobe, which fixtures take part, the tempo.
- ❌ “make it nice” / “energetic” — nothing to grab onto.
- ✅ “cold, anxious light, blue and white; the pars wash evenly and dimly; the heads slowly sweep their beams across the room; no strobe”.
💡 Tip: one coherent task at a time, but described fully. Don’t dump five ideas into one sentence — better a solid foundation, with details caught up through refining.
Refining: sculpt the result, don’t rewrite it
Don’t like it? Don’t rewrite the request. Below the result are quick-suggestion buttons; the assistant adjusts in the needed direction, remembering the previous version:

- “Create another” — a different variant without touching the one you already accepted (the assistant knows what’s been created and doesn’t repeat itself).
- A pinpoint edit — right-click a scene/chase → “Refine with AI” → describe it in words (“make it colder”, “aim the heads at the room”).
💡 Tip: treat the result as a strong draft — the assistant gives you 90% in seconds; add the finishing touches by hand in “Program”.
Analysis
- 🔍 Diagnostics — the assistant reviews your scenes and points out weak spots (a fixture left off, clashing colors, forgotten brightness). Worth running before an important performance.
- 💡 Explanation and questions — ask in words how a feature works, and it answers from the manual without leaving the program.
