Program Updates

The program updates itself — you don’t need to download anything manually. New versions come out regularly: features, fixes, new fixture profiles.

How it works:

  1. In the background, the program checks the update server and quietly downloads the new version — you don’t notice anything and keep working.
  2. When the version is ready, a notification appears: “Update available — Version X.Y.Z downloaded. Restart now?”
  3. Choose:
Button What happens
Restart The program closes, updates and reopens already on the new version (about half a minute)
Later You keep working; the update will install itself the next time you close the program normally
⚠️ Note: during a performance, feel free to press “Later” — there will be no forced installation in the middle of a show. The update will wait until you close the program yourself.
💡 Tip: the current program version is in the Help → About menu. The same Help menu also has a “Check for updates” item — in case you want to check manually without waiting for the background check.
💡 Tip: downloading updates requires the internet. If you work offline for long stretches — updates will simply wait until the next connection.
💡 Tip: if a download breaks off — the connection dropped for a minute or the server answered slowly — the program retries on its own after 2 minutes, then after 10 and after 25. You do not need to press anything. If the third attempt fails as well, the next one comes with the next background check or the next program start. The new version’s file is about 200 MB, so on a slow connection the download may take several runs.
⚠️ If checking for updates shows “Your antivirus or network is blocking the secure connection to the server” — the program could not download the update because something interferes with the secure connection on the way: most often an antivirus with HTTPS traffic inspection, less often a corporate proxy or the ISP itself. Add the program to your antivirus exclusions (or temporarily disable its secure-connection scanning) and run “Check for updates” again. Light control is not affected — the program simply keeps working on the current version.
