Fixture Groups

Groups let you control fixtures in batches instead of one at a time — “all heads”, “left truss”, “dance floor”. This saves a huge amount of time and is needed almost everywhere: groups become submasters in Live, Solo/Mute acts on them, and they make it easy to select fixtures in the Programmer.

There are two kinds of groups: system (created automatically) and custom (“My groups”, created by you).

System groups

The app automatically sorts fixtures by type: Pars, Heads, Lasers, Strobes, Blinders, Fog machines, Effects, Other. Nothing to set up — they are always at hand (for example, as options when assigning a submaster).

“My groups” (custom)

Here you group fixtures however you like — by location, by role, by number.

📍 Where: the “My groups” panel in “Prog” mode.

How to create and fill a group:

  1. Click “Group” — a new group appears, and you can name it right away.
  2. Drag fixture cards from the list straight into the group. The fixture “chip” appears inside it.
  3. Inside a group you can create a subgroup (the “Subgroup” button) — for example, “Dance floor → Left truss”. Depth is one level.
Action How
Rename Double-click the name (or ✏️)
Color and icon The palette button 🎨
Collapse/expand The arrow on the left of the group
Remove a fixture from the group The × on the fixture chip
Delete the group 🗑 (for a group with subgroups it asks what to do with them)
Move a fixture between groups Drag the chip from one group to another
💡 Tip: a single fixture can belong to several groups at once — for example, both “All heads” and “Left side”. That’s normal and convenient.
⚠️ Note: deleting a group does not delete the fixtures from the project — only their membership in that group disappears. The fixtures themselves stay in the Patch.
