The blinder is the “blind the room” move: drive the lighting fixtures to full brightness in pure white all at once. A classic trick on the chorus or at the climax — a powerful white flash in the audience’s face. Like the Strobe, the overlay is non-destructive: the program remembers what was there and restores the picture when it’s turned off.
📍 Where: Live → the left column → the “Blinder” button (with a sun icon, amber colored).
How to use it:
- Press “Blinder” — all PAR cans and moving-head fixtures instantly fire full white (100% brightness, white color). The button lights up amber.
- Press it again — the fixtures return to exactly the state they were in before the blinder.
⚠️ Warning: the blinder only affects fixtures of type PAR can (par) and moving head (moving-head) — these are what you “wash” the room with. It leaves fog machines, lasers and other special fixtures untouched.
💡 Tip: the blinder is especially effective in short flashes on the beat. If you want truly instant “hits” on the beat, keep in mind the Strobe (rapid flashes) and the momentary flash key — see the key rundown in 07.25.
💡 Tip: piled up a lot of live overlays (strobe + blinder + smoke)? Holding down the Reset button will quickly bring back a clean picture.
