Overview: what Live is

“Live” is the console for hands-on light control during a performance. If “Prog” and “Scenes” are the rehearsal and the prep work, then “Live” is the show itself: this is where you launch your prepared scenes and chases, layer in effects, ride the tempo of the music, and react to what’s happening in the room — with a single press, without getting pulled into editing.

📍 Where: the mode switcher at the top of the window → the “Live” button (between “Prog” and “Patch”).

The screen is divided into functional zones (left to right):

Left — “emergency” and overlay controls: Grand Master (overall brightness), Blackout, Freeze, plus the live overlays Strobe, Blinder, Smoke, the Reset/Panic button and Blind mode. Nearby — the system clock and DMX indicator.
Center-left — the “mixer”: Banks, the DJ / Quiet scene mode switch, Quick colors, Fade Time, the A/B crossfader and GO, Submasters with Solo/Mute and the command stack.
Center-right — “content launch”: the cue transport (in “Quiet scene” mode), Favorite Effects and Presets and the large grid of Scenes / Chases / Playlists.
Right — “rhythm”: the BPM panel, Speed and the Sound Monitor.

Who Live is for. The tab speaks two “languages,” and you pick the one that suits you with the DJ / Quiet scene switch:

🎧 For a DJ: everything revolves around the music — you tap the tempo (BPM), the light follows the beat, and you mix in effects and colors on the fly.

🎭 For theater: “Quiet scene” mode hides the sound section and brings the cue transport to the front — you run the show with “GO” commands, like following a script.

💡 Tip: don’t try to memorize every button at once. Master three things — Blackout (kill the light in an emergency), launching scenes from the grid, and the Grand Master (overall brightness). That’s enough for your first live performance; add the rest gradually.

Protection against accidental editing

If a guest operator will run the show, open Settings → Password protection beforehand, set a password, and confirm it. Editing will then lock automatically whenever Live is opened.

Scenes, chases, playlists, banks, faders, the crossfader, GO, TAP, Blackout, Freeze, strobe, blinder and smoke remain available. Editor modes, File/Edit/Fixtures/Settings commands, card editing and deletion, bank and pad-layout changes, submaster assignment and MIDI mapping are blocked.

To leave Live or temporarily allow editing within it, select another mode or press the green lock button in the header and enter the password. The amber open-lock button locks editing again.

If the password is forgotten, the license owner can open Account → Activations, find the required computer, and press “Reset interface password protection.” Then press “Check reset” directly in the password dialog on that online computer; the same button is available under Settings → Password protection. The command applies only to the selected activation; the project, license, and other computers are unchanged.
