The “Overall speed” control speeds up or slows down all chases and effects at once, without changing their settings. It’s a quick way to fit the pace of the moving light to the music, whether it has picked up energy or, on the contrary, calmed down.
How to use:
- Move the vertical fader: up — faster, down — slower.
- The current multiplier is shown above the fader (×¼, ×½, ×1, ×2, etc.).
- Double-click the fader to instantly return to ×1 (the original speed).

Without music the fader changes the speed smoothly, and the chase carries on from the step it was on — nothing jumps.
With music
When chases follow the beat of the music — a show with a track is playing, or the SOUND button has caught the beat — their steps change speed not smoothly but in steps: ×¼, ×½, ×1, ×2, ×4. The step nearest the fader position is taken, and it switches in at a step boundary that falls on the beat: speeding up as soon as the current step ends, slowing down within one beat at most. So the chase keeps the rhythm and loses no steps. The step in force right now is written under the multiplier, for example “♪ on beat ×2”.
Head movement (circle, figure eight and other figures) changes speed smoothly, without steps: the figure carries on from the same point. In “By beat” mode every hit is a step, and the control does not affect it.
From a MIDI controller
- Knob or fader: Live → MIDI → the Tempo group → the “Overall speed” row → Learn. The Quick setup wizard offers this step too.
- Buttons: the same group has “Overall speed ×2”, “Overall speed ÷2” and “Overall speed ×1 (reset)”. A button moves exactly to the neighbouring step, so with music the chase stays on the beat. The reset button’s LED stays lit while the speed is ×1.
