Editing a Scene and Transitions

A saved scene doesn’t need to be recreated for a small change — you can open and tweak it, as well as control how gently scenes give way to one another.

📍 Where: the bottom panel → the “Scenes” tab → right-click a scene → “Edit”.

What you can change in the editor:

  1. Name — rename the scene.
  2. Light per fixture — right in the editor window each fixture has faders: tweak the brightness, color or other channels without leaving the scene.
  3. Control panel below the faders — tabs depending on the selected fixtures’ capabilities: Color (palette), Position (a head-aiming pad), Gobo/Strobe and — if moving heads are selected — FX (beam movement).
  4. “Save” — changes take effect only after the save button (close without saving and the edits aren’t applied).

The “FX” tab — head movement and the intensity wave as part of the scene. If moving heads are among the selected fixtures, the FX tab lets you switch on smooth beam movement (circle, figure-eight, panorama, etc.) and set the amplitude and speed. Below it, the “Intensity wave” block makes the light breathe, pulse or blink — it works on any fixture, ordinary PARs included, and never changes their colour. Both the movement and the wave are visible right in the visualizer while editing and are saved with the scene: when the scene is launched, the heads start sweeping their beams again and the light starts breathing. The same block is in the chase editor.

The scene remembers running effects. If an effect from the “Effects” tab (wave, pulse, circular movement, etc.) was on before you saved the scene, the scene remembers it — when the scene is launched, the effect comes on by itself, on the same fixtures. Previously the effect was “lost” after saving — now it’s part of the scene. Deactivating the scene (clicking it again) also turns off its effect.

💡 Tip: often it’s easier not to dig into the editor but to rebuild the scene from scratch: launch it, tweak the light in the Programmer by hand, and save the scene under the same name. Which is more convenient is a matter of habit.

Transitions between scenes (Fade). When you switch from one scene to another, the light flows smoothly — over the transition time:

  • 0 seconds (Cut) — an instant switch, no smoothness.
  • 0.5–15 seconds — a smooth flow of brightness and color.

The time is set with the Fade slider/buttons (in the Programmer — next to the scene list; in Live — a separate “Fade” block). This is one of the little things that turn a set of scenes into a living, “breathing” show.

💡 Tip: on fast dance music set a short Fade (Cut–0.5s) — the switches land on the beat; for calm moments — 3–8 seconds, so the light drifts gently.
⚠️ Note: deleting a scene (right-click → “Delete”) is irreversible for the scene itself, but the fixtures and the project are unharmed — only this “snapshot” disappears. If the scene is part of a chase or a playlist, check them after deleting it.
